從高雄搭汽車可以到台灣東南部的台東縣，那裏有很多我們的教會。其中最大的成功教會附近有忠仁教會。在這忠仁教會有一位信徒叫做陳添珍。民國五十四年（一九六五年）夏天，那裡出產很多香茅草，每斤香茅油可以賣到一百元左右。陳弟兄有一甲多的地種了很多香茅草，他看到油的價錢越來越好，他就趕快把他所有的香茅草割下來，把那些草晒了幾天，然後捆成捆，扛到蒸香茅的油寮去煉成油。
The county of Taitung in Southeastern Taiwan can be reached by car from Kaoshiung. We have many churches in Taitung. The biggest one is Chenggong church, and nearby is Zhongren church.There was a member named Tian Zhen Chen in Zhongren church.
In the summer of 1965, the region produced a large amount of lemongrass. A kilogram of lemongrass oil could be sold for around NT$100 at that time. Brother Chen had a little over one hectare of land in which he planted a lot of lemongrass. He saw that the selling price of the oil was getting better and better, so he quickly harvested all his lemongrass and lay it all out to dry for a few days before bundling it up to take to the steam distillation factory. There the lemongrass would be processed and lemongrass oil would be made.
第二天，正好是星期五，陳弟兄和他的大兒子兩個人在油寮裡開始蒸香茅，一直蒸到半夜，已經蒸出了五十斤左右的香茅油了。那時候已經很晚，他們父子倆沒有回家去，只好在油寮裡過夜。隔天早上，就是安息日的早上，陳弟兄又開始起火燒蒸氣鍋的時候，陳弟兄的兒子說：「爸爸！今天是安息日，為什麼要起火燒蒸氣鍋而不回去守安息日呢？」
The next day happened to be a Friday and that is when Bro. Chen and his eldest son started steaming the lemongrass to produce the oil. They worked hard all day until midnight and they produced around 50 kilograms of lemongrass oil. Despite it already being very late, the two of them did not return home that night but they decided to sleep over in the factory instead.
The next morning, which was a Sabbath morning, when Bro. Chen was preparing to start the fire to burn the steam pot, his son said, “Dad, it’s the Sabbath day. Why are you preparing the fire instead of going to church to observe the Sabbath?”
陳弟兄只顧香茅油，沒有把神的話放在心裡，只是回答：「不要緊！現在香茅剩下不多了，我們今天不要守安息日，今天一定要把這些香茅蒸完再說，快把香茅草裝入蒸鍋裡……。」陳弟兄的兒子知道守安息日的重要，爸爸卻叫他也不要守安息日，他心裡很不高興；但又不敢違背父親的命令，不得不去裝香茅草。
陳弟兄的兒子裝好了香茅草之後，又回來他父親身邊。這時，父親所起的火，火勢越來越大。正在這時候，他兒子坐在離父親不遠的地方，他再提醒父親說：「爸爸！您是教會負責人，為什麼不守安息日呢？」他說完之後，不久，蒸氣鍋（約有4臺尺高，2臺尺直徑）突然間，轟隆！轟隆！爆炸了。
Bro. Chen was focused on the lemongrass oil, and did not set his heart on God’s words, so he replied, “It’s alright! There isn’t much grass left. Let’s skip observing the Sabbath today. We have to finish steaming the lemongrass. Quickly! Put the grass into the steam pot …” Bro. Chen’s son knew the importance of observing the Sabbath, but his father had asked him not to observe it. He was not happy with the situation, but dare not disobey his father’s order, so he did as his father asked.
After Bro. Chen’s son had loaded the lemongrass, he returned to his father’s side. At this time, the fire that Bro. Chen had started grew bigger and bigger. His son, sitting not far from him, reminded him again, “Dad, you are a church council member. Why aren’t you observing the Sabbath?” Shortly after he said these words, the steam pot (approximately 4 feet high and 2 feet wide), suddenly exploded!
蒸氣鍋裡的開水澆到陳弟兄身上，他全身都被燙傷了，他就立刻倒下去，疼痛得不得了。很奇妙的是蹲在他身旁，離他只有一尺左右的兒子卻一點也沒有受傷，他的兒子就趕快背著他父親回家去。
陳弟兄一時不小心，忽略了安息日，結果損失了不少金錢，蒸好的香茅油，賣了錢當做藥費也不夠用。還好，他懂得向神認罪悔改，知道自己身為負責人，實在不該這樣不守安息日，去辦私事（賽五十八13-14），這是明知故犯，只有求神憐憫，原諒他。
The water from the steam pot splashed onto Bro. Chen and he was scalded all over his body. Immediately, he fell down in great pain! Miraculously, his son who was squatting just one meter away from him was not hurt at all. His son quickly carried him on his back and hurried home.
Bro. Chen was careless in his neglect of the Sabbath. As a result, he lost a lot of money. The earnings from the sale of the lemongrass oil were not sufficient to cover his medical bills. Fortunately, he knew that he had to repent before God. He knew that as a church council member, he really should not have done private matters on the Sabbath (Isaiah 58:13-14). His working on the Sabbath was intentional even though he could have and knew he should have gone to church, so he asked God for mercy and forgiveness.
教會裡的弟兄姊妹很有愛心，常常到到家他幫助禱告，過了幾天，他的傷蒙神大恩，漸漸好轉。這次神明顯的管教，使他更清楚地認識聖經上的話都是真的，也知道守安息日的重要。
The brothers and sisters from the church were very loving and they often went to his house to pray for him. By the abundant grace of God, his wounds gradually got better after a few days. God’s discipline was clear this time, so he could understand more clearly that all words in the Bible are true. Through his experience he was also reminded of the importance of observing the Sabbath.
