在我們鄉下地方，有一次，約有二、三個月沒下雨，那時還沒有自來水，鄉下人每戶都有自己的水井，水井都乾了，牛、羊、雞沒水都死了、土地乾裂，那是很可怕的事。

Once we were faced with a terrible drought where we lived in the countryside. There was no tap water system in place, so we did not have convenient access to running water like we do nowadays. Each family had to rely on its own well for water, but there had been no rain for two or three months, so eventually even the wells dried up. It was dreadful to see cattle, sheep, and chickens dying from thirst. The ground itself was so parched that cracks began to appear all over.

人想要喝水，就要到森林的河去取水，森林沒有路，都要用走路把水提出來，再用機車載回家，因為沒有雨水，河水也越來越少，最後變成黃黃的爛泥。

For the sake of survival, people would travel deep into the forest to get water from a river there. Since there were no tarmac roads leading into the forest, people had to carry water on foot from the river back to the main road. Afterwards, they would transport the water home using motorcycles. However, eventually the river also dried up and just became a riverbed of yellowish mud.

於是，村長召集全村的人求雨，那時已有二、三戶的人家信主 (我們家是第一戶)，所以我們都沒參加，因此受到許多毁謗。村長擺上了祭物，大家向天求雨，他說：「都是你們害的，跑去拜外國神，得罪天公。」我們只能默默承受，不敢回嘴，以免有衝突。

In order to try and resolve the crisis being faced, the village chief gathered all the villagers to pray for rain using pagan rituals. At that time, there were two or three households who believed in the Lord (our family was the first to believe in that area), and we refused to participate in their pagan prayer ritual. As a result, many villagers slandered us for not doing our part to help. The chief prepared sacrifices to offer the idols and the villagers prayed to heaven for rain. The village chief denounced us, saying, “This drought we are facing is entirely your fault! You worship the foreigner’s god and have offended heaven.” We were afraid to talk back and could only keep silent to avoid conflict.



祖母在家跪下來禱告，求神下雨解決缺水問題，她說：「主啊！祢是創造宇宙的神，當日以利亞求雨，祢就降下雨來，今日也是一樣，我們懇求祢降雨。」
禱告完她就去睡覺，才剛躺下她就聽到大聲響，聲音如雷，大家都起來了，因為只有雷聲、卻沒有雨。

My grandmother knelt down and prayed at home, asking God for rain to solve the water shortage. She prayed saying, “Oh Lord, you are the God who created the universe. At the time when Elijah prayed for rain, you gave rain to them. Today, it is the same. We plead for your mercy. Please give us rain.” After praying, she went straight to bed. As soon as she lay down, she suddenly heard a loud noise like thunder. Everyone in the house woke up! However, there was only the sound of thunder, but no sign of rain.

這時有聲音從遠處傳來，感覺這聲音是由地底上來的，這聲音一直到我們門口，然後就經過客廳進入廚房，我父母跟著聲音跑，這聲音從廚房跑到後面的水井去了，到底發生了什麼事呢？

Later on, there came a rumbling sound from the direction of the mountains and then it was like the sound was travelling underground. It sounded like rushing water, coursing through the ground. The sound seemed to travel from a point away from our house, all the way to the front door of our house, and then under the living room floor, before continuing under the kitchen floor. My parents got up to follow the sound, wondering where it would go next. Then the sound rushed from the kitchen to the well in the backyard. What was going on?



我們家水井的水，很快地湧了上來，而且速度非常快，我祖母怕水湧的太快，房子會被水淹掉，她馬上跪下禱告說：「主耶穌夠了。」水馬上就停了，距離井口只差一吋就滿出來了。這是個很大的神蹟。

Suddenly, the well in our back garden began to fill with water at an amazing rate. The flow of water was so rapid that my grandmother began to worry that the water would overflow and flood the house! She immediately knelt down and prayed, “Lord, it is enough!” and all at once, the water stopped rising in the well. The water stopped one inch from the top of the well. What an amazing miracle!

從這裡我們看見神的智慧，祂的智慧高過人的智慧，不下雨怎會有水呢？在這裡我們看到了神的四種智慧。

From this testimony, we can see the wisdom of God, which surpasses the wisdom of men, and we can see His almighty power. We might be a little puzzled and ask how people are able to obtain water without rain. Here, we see four aspects of wisdom and power of God:

1. 神用祂的方式：
若那天下雨了，神就得不著榮耀，因為村民求雨，他們會認為那是天公的功勞。

God has His Own Way:
If God granted rain on that day, His Name would not have been glorified because the villagers had also prayed to their idols for rain. The rainfall would have been perceived as an answer from their gods and the credit would not have been given to the one true God.



2. 神是宇宙創造者：
包括了水，都要經過神的命令，大響聲是神的命令，是祂吩咐水過來的。神說要有就有，祂的話是權柄，祂吩咐風浪止了吧！風浪就平靜了。門徒他們跟主在一起那麼久，居然還說：「這人是誰？連風和海都聽他了。」因為耶穌是宇宙主宰，祂的命令誰敢不聽？補到了153條大魚也是神下的命令，誰能在淺海裡補大魚？因為主說大魚來小魚不要來。在我們家發生的事，就像這樣，讓我們看到了神的權柄。

God is the Creator of the Universe:
Everything must be done at God’s command, including the provision of water. The loud water sound came about through God’s command; it was God who commanded water to come forth. God brings whatever He desires into existence through His words. His words carry power and authority. When Lord Jesus commanded the winds and waves to be still, they calmed down immediately. Though the disciples had accompanied the Lord for so long, they were still surprised and asked, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” (Matt 8:27) Since Jesus is the Lord of the universe, who would not listen to His command? One time Jesus went to see His disciples at the Sea of Tiberius. Even though they had not caught anything throughout the night, at the Lord’s command, His disciples cast their fishing nets into the sea. The Lord spoke and it was done and the disciples caught 153 large fish. If it were not for the word of the Lord, how could the disciples have caught so many large fish in the shallow water? This was what happened to our family. We saw the authority and power of God manifested when we heard the sound of rushing water and saw the water gush up in the well.

3. 水順從主的話：
水可以準確地到達我家，不會走錯路；若走歪了，就不是神的功勞了。這證明宇宙萬物都順服神，絕對不會走錯。

The Water Submitted to God’s Word:
Only through God’s word was the water able to arrive at our well so quickly and so accurately (i.e. not to other wells but to our well alone). This proves that all things in the universe are subject to God. Nothing can deviate from His command.

4.湧上來的水因為禱告說：「夠了」，水就停了。
這真是大奇蹟，這是個活生生的見證，原來聖經講的神蹟在今日重現，這證明舊約的神也是今日的神，神千年、萬年不會改變，他便說：「耶和華如此說：『你們要在這谷中滿處挖溝。』因為耶和華如此說：『你們雖不見風，不見雨，這谷必滿了水，使你們和牲畜有水喝。』在耶和華眼中這還算為小事，他也必將摩押人交在你們手中。你們必攻破一切堅城美邑，砍伐各種佳樹，塞住一切水泉，用石頭糟踏一切美田。次日早晨，約在獻祭的時候，有水從以東而來，遍地就滿了水。(王下三16-20)

The Water Stopped at God’s Command
Though the water was welling up so quickly, it stopped as soon as prayer was offered up to God. This is a great miracle and testimony of God’s power, which our family witnessed together. The miracles recorded in the Bible can still be seen today. This proves that the God of the Old Testament is still alive and a God who should still be worshipped today. God will never change; not in a thousand years or in ten thousand years.
“And he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’ For thus says the Lord: ‘You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.’ And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand. Also you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall cut down every good tree, and stop up every spring of water, and ruin every good piece of land with stones.” Now it happened in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, that suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.” (2 Kgs 3:16-20)

這是舊約中不見風、不見雨的神蹟。那是在以利沙時代，三個王聯合要攻打摩押王，他們在曠野迷了路，水都喝光了，同時又找不到水，仗還沒開始打，就要因為缺水而死。請注意！這三個國王各自帶著自己的軍隊，因此是有三個軍隊沒水喝。於是他們求先知，先知叫他們先挖溝儲水。雖然不見風、不見雨，但一定會看到谷中有水，這是當時的神蹟。現在也是不見風不見雨，神直接送水到我家，我們親眼看見神。

The miracle in my family is similar to a miracle which is recorded in the Old Testament, where neither wind nor rain could be seen, but water was provided for the people. It took place in the time of Elisha when the three kings allied to attack the king of Moab and got lost in the wilderness. They drank up all the water they had and could not find any more to replenish their supplies. It seemed like they were going to die from thirst before the battle had even begun. In this incident, each of the three kings brought his own army to the battleground. Therefore, there was a total of three armies without water to drink. At the time they enquired of the prophet and they were told to first make ditches in the valley. After they dug the ditches, though they saw neither wind nor rain, they still saw a miracle happen before their very eyes. They saw the ditches filling up with water throughout the valley. This is exactly the same as what my family saw. There was no wind or rain, but the Lord still delivered water to our house. We saw God’s wonderful works with our own eyes.

許多人來我家取水，他們說：「奇怪，怎麼只有你家有水呢？」也有人不以為然，認為只不過是地下水而已。他們沒想到，若有地下水，怎會只有我家有呢？那是主從遠方調水過來的。

Later, many people from the village came to our well to draw water. They were so confused and conflicted, and wondered, “How has this happened? This is so strange. How come only your family has water in their well?” Some people dismissed it simply as being groundwater which had filled up our well. However, what they ignored was that if it was merely a naturally occurring phenomenon, why did the groundwater only fill up the well at our house and none of others? This shows us that it was clearly a miracle performed by God. Water was sent to us by God from afar.

「南水北調」是人為的，但那要花很長的時間，但主一句話就成了，這些不信的人，卻來拿耶穌給的水，可見我們的神是如此地慈愛，祂降雨給好人、也給歹人，賜陽光給義人、也給不義的人。

We know water transportation projects require a large amount of manpower and take a long time to finish. With God, He only needs to speak and all things will be completed at His word. Our God is so gracious that He even allowed the villagers who were not believers of the village to draw water from our well. Indeed, our merciful God in heaven grants the rain to fall and the sunshine to shine upon both the good and the wicked.
