The Angels Who Also Attended the Baptism

October 8, 1972 was the last day of a spiritual convocation at Taichung Church. During the morning service, those who were to receive baptism attended a special service, along with their families, where the preacher explained the teachings related to baptism, so they could better understand it.We know from the Bible that the Lord Jesus loves us and died in order to save us. He shed his precious blood for us so that we could receive salvation. During baptism, our sins are washed away by the Lord’s precious blood, so that we can become the sons of God and the members of the true church. Therefore, baptism is a very important sacrament.

After the morning service that day, those going to the baptismal site got ready to leave. The baptismal candidates and their respective families, along with those assisting in the baptism and those assigned to sing hymns during the baptism got into a minibus. They travelled to a river in a suburb of Taichung to conduct the baptism.

When the baptism was about to commence, they prayed in silence, sang a hymn and prayed together. During the prayer, Sister Lin from Kaoshiung Church, the older cousin of our little sister Wan-En Ye, saw a wonderful vision. While she was praying, she saw an angel dressed in white, serenely fly down from the sky. The angel stopped in mid-air, and moved to one side before spreading out his hands. Then suddenly, many other angels dressed in white assembled beside the first angel, and it was as though they were descending from a staircase.

When the baptism started, people were singing hymns by the riverbank. Those receiving baptism lined up one by one to go down into the water. One of the baptismal candidates walked toward the presiding preacher, knelt down in the water, bowed his head and prayed in silence. Then the preacher said, “In the name of the Lord Jesus I baptize you for the remission of your sins!” Then he came up out of the water and those assisting with the baptism wiped away the water from his face with a towel. After he returned to the riverbank, the next in the line went down into the water to receive water baptism.

That day, there was also an adorable baby who was to be baptized. Those assisting with the baptism carried her up to the riverbank and then passed her carefully from one person to another. At that time, Deacon Tsai required the help of Sister Lin who was standing beside him, so she put down her hymn book and stepped into the water to take the baby into her arms. At that moment, Sister Lin noticed that there were many angels on the riverbank on the opposite side. She saw many angels lined up neatly and dressed in white, carrying a white scroll in their hands, which seemed like a hymn book of some kind. They were all smiling and singing while the baptism was taking place. What a wonderful thing to behold!

Sister Lin quickly took the baby and passed him back to his mother while looking at the brothers and sisters singing on the riverbank where she was standing. When she turned her head to look at other side of the river, there was no one there anymore. She could no longer see the angels that had lined up and sang only moments before; the vision had ended.

Here’s a question to consider:
Why do we need to be baptized? What is the use of baptism? Little children, have you been baptized? Before our baptism, we were sinners who were separated from the Lord and who did not know the Lord Jesus. Perhaps before we came to believe and be baptized, we would often worship idols, lie and do bad things. As such, we could not have entered into the heavenly kingdom in the future, but instead we would be cast into hell for eternal punishment.
